Museum
The Museum of Architecture in Wrocław is located in the historic complex of the former Bernardine monastery. The entrance to the museum is located on the side of Juliusz Słowacki Avenue and is led to it by an asphalt path. It is accessible by car from Bernardine Street.
The museum building is partially adapted for the needs of people with disabilities.
The main entrance is preceded by a 6 cm threshold. In the entrance area there is a lift to the first floor, an open cloakroom and a ramp allowing wheelchair users free access to exhibition spaces. On the left of the entrance there is an Infopoint and a ticket office. On the right is the Romanesque Room, where elements of the permanent exhibition and temporary exhibitions are presented.
All exhibitions are located on the ground floor, overcoming differences in floor levels (architectural barriers) is facilitated by ramps and hoists for people with physical disabilities.
The entrance to the main exhibition space of the museum, the former St. Bernard’s Church, is possible thanks to the ramp. By the stairs leading to the presbytery there is a hoist installed which allows the visitors with motor disabilities to visit this part of the exhibition. The lift is accessible from the museum bookshop, which is situated on the right side from the church door. The entrances to both side mezzanines are not accessible for the wheelchair users.
On the ground floor of the building there is also an open bookshop, an education room and the former vestry, where temporary exhibitions are shown. A unique attraction is the medieval monastery garden open to the public - accessible for wheelchair users from the East Cloister.
On the first floor there is a toilet adapted for the people with disabilities. Due to the high threshold, the entrance to the offices of the museum staff is not possible for people in wheelchairs.
All museum guests can count on the help of the museum staff at any time: please contact the infopoint or the exhibition room staff.
