Our collection has recently been enriched with an extremely valuable and unique object: the treatise by the Roman architect Vitruvius “On the Architecture of Books Ten”. This copy was published in 1548 in Nuremberg, on Johann Petreius’ publishing site, and is the first German translation (by Walther Hermann Ryff) of this treatise. Its content explains in detail the principles governing architecture and is an invaluable source of knowledge about the construction of ancient Greeks and Romans. The text part of the old print is enriched with around 190 woodcuts.

It was financed from the funds of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund.
