The Great Beauty

This year’s edition theme is The Great Beauty. It is a pro­found idea that we are reach­ing for both in our life and cre­ative work. The Vit­ru­vian Triad as a fun­da­ment of ar­chi­tec­ture is known since clas­si­cal times. Only mod­ernists trans­posed Fir­mi­tas, Util­i­tas and Venus­tas into Struc­ture, Func­tion and Aes­thet­ics. The Beauty (Venus­tas) as a pure value was reduced, sub­sti­tuted by lesser mean­ings and seems to be oblit­er­ated. Today, only a few are bold enough to speak openly about its sig­nif­i­cance in day–to–day prac­tice. The Great Beauty is an idea that plays in the in­vis­i­ble part of the Pla­tonic Cave.
