The phenomenon of recent years in the world of winemaking – linking contemporary architecture with new technologies – is represented in the new exhibition in the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery entitled “Architecture and Wine in Central Europe”. The exhibition presents nearly forty realisations of Winery Architecture in seven countries and is accompanied by a 200-page publication. The project is open in Prague until 26th January and will then travel around the capital cities of Central Europe.
The focus of the concept is to introduce the connection of new (as well as traditional) wine production methods with modern architecture and design, which is reflected in the interiors as well as in the graphic design of vignettes. The exhibition includes examples from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Germany (Saxony), Hungary, Slovenia and the north of Italy (South Tyrol). Individual wineries and wine centres are presented by means of photographs and architectural plans. There is also an emphasis on the characteristics of the different regions and specific grape varieties, as well as on the resulting products, including a description of the production and aging of wine – both processed by traditional methods (e.g. maturation in oak barrels) and by the most modern technological processes and facilities.
The exhibition is inspired by the aesthetics of wineries. The creators of the artistic concept are the Curator of the exhibition and JFG Director Dan Merta and Architect Jakub Fišer.
