Established in 1926, the “Ład” Artists’ Cooperative, focusing on shaping interior architecture and applied arts, quickly became one of the leading creative associations in pre-war Poland. The aim of the Cooperative, which mainly associates professors and graduates of the Warsaw School of Fine Arts (later the Academy), was - as the statute proclaimed - “striving for perfection of form, raw material and execution”. A lot of fame and interest, especially in the circles of the metropolitan intelligentsia, brought the “Ład” original designs of furniture, ceramics and fabrics, derived from the Polish artistic tradition, emphasizing the qualities of native raw materials.

The creators associated in the Cooperative also contributed to the development of the official visual identification of the Second Polish Republic, designing the interiors of state buildings and furnishing Polish diplomatic missions. The representativeness and decorativeness of the projects of the older generation of artists was rejected by the younger artists active in the “Order” ranks, who tried to take into account the changing conditions of social life, respect the requirements of usability and keep moderation in the use of decorative means. The lecture will focus on presenting artistic ideas of the environment of the “Ład” Artists’ Cooperative and their relation to the work of Władysław Wincze.
Event within the framework of the programme ** Blok #3 | Rzemiosło**.
The lecture will be given in Polish.
