Carl Johann Christian Zimmermann – Wroclaw’s city architect in the years 1864-1871 and later a longtime building director (Baudirector) in Hamburg. He spent almost eight years as a municipal construction councilor and during that time he created a dozen buildings on a varied scale, purpose and value for the city, and yet he has remained almost unknown till this day. He was associated only with his greatest realizations, and opinions about him were very general, to say the least, and often harmful, which was impacted by poor recognition of the community of Wroclaw architects working for the municipality.
